We all have elderly family, friends or neighbours who have been cocooning during this pandemic and it’s a really tough time for so many who may be in complete isolation and finding things tough right now. Mayo GAA star David Brady however has came up with a novel idea that we thought was simply brilliant and would love to see it here in County Wicklow and beyond. David has offered to ring some of the GAA mad people who are cocooned for a chat on the GAA over the years to try and help cheer them up and he’s doing a great job with many great stories being shared
Other well known players like Dublin’s Alan Brogan and Kildare’s Johnny Doyle have also now offered their time to ring GAA folk and it’s brilliant to see
We were so taken with the idea we decided to contact a few Wicklow GAA stars and we are delighted to say that the response was excellent with Leighton Glynn, Don Hyland, John Keenan, Kevin O Brien and Anthony Nolan all on board to have a chat with any GAA elderly GAA people who you think might love a chat with one of these about the GAA over the years. We will try get a few more on board in the coming days to add to the options.
The lads are all willing to have a chat so if you have someone you think might be cheered up with a call from one of the lads then you can drop a message with the details of who you would like them to have a chat with and the contact number for them. The lads will do their best to give them a call and talk GAA and anything else. The contact links for each of the lads are here:
