Wicklow v Louth – Leinster Ladies Minor Football Championship

The Wicklow Ladies Minor Football Team are out in Championship action this Saturday in Bray at 2pm where they take on the Louth Minor Football Team.

A strong panel is spearheaded by Captain Sinead McGettigan who is a sister of County Senior Captain Niamh McGettigan. The management team is jam packed with experience with Manager Dominic Leech who is Leinster LGFA president, Coach Dave Byrne from Carnew, Goalkeeping Coach Mick Kavanagh who is a selector on the Ladies Senior Team and Mentors Jo Katus and Nicola McGettigan. Numbers in this squad have been very high from the start with a great spread from all clubs.

Wicklow have been drawn in a group of four with Louth, Carlow and Kilkenny and will will be hoping to take maximum points. Louth will be the one of the toughest teams in the group so a big game is needed from the start.

Following on from last year’s very successful trip to Rennes this team has been training twice a week in Ballinakill with 25 or more girls at every training session. The Game is at 2pm in Bray.

The team trained in Aughrim Community pitch last Sunday then went to the senior ladies game afterwards so they will be hoping to emulate the success of their senior counterparts and they will hope that many of you can get to Bray to cheer them on against Louth on Saturday 💙💛
