The Guru’s Wicklow Club Football Championship Rankings

As posted last week on our social media accounts last Monday we will have the weekly rankings for the Wicklow Football Championships chosen by our Wicklow GAA Guru. Each Monday we will share the Guru’s rankings based off league form and the Guru’s gut instinct.

Like all things not everyone will agree so we would be delighted to hear your thoughts on the ranks each week and if you really have your knickers in a twist then you can send your complaints to Joe Duffy @RteRadio1 and see who Joe thinks should be ranked higher or lower!

So without any further waffle here’s the latest rankings as of Monday the 23rd May:

Wicklow SFC 2022

County Champions Blessington are the big movers with their big victory over AGB moving them up two places with positive moves for Tinahely, Kiltegan and Donard/Glen. The Gers and Rathnew both head one place in the wrong direction with Rathnews win over Newtown not enough to hold their place in 4th but still remain in the Top 5. An Tochar did win their game against Ballymanus but they still drop one as Tinahely’s draw with Baltinglass propels them into 6th. Avondales heavy defeat at the hands of St Pats drops them dangerously close to the bottom and it’s St Pats who are still the Guru’s Top Tip for Championship glory while Dunlavins defeat at the hands of Kiltegan has seen them fall to the last place in the rankings and Intermediate Football for 2023 if this ranking plays out so this should be excellent wall decoration for motivating the Dunlavin dressing room……

Wicklow IFC 2022

A lot of movement in this one with Carnew Emmets, Kilmacanogue and Valleymount all making two place moves in the right direction with Coolkenno and Stratford/Grangecon making one spot jumps in the right direction. Ballymanus are the big fallers as they drop 3 places down to 8th place after an away defeat to An Tochar while Annacurra also fell down the board two places after defeat to Donard/Glen and Kilcoole and Hollywood both fell by one place but remain in the Top 4. Eire Og are the Guru’s tip to make a swift return to Senior as they are once again the top ranked team this week while Barndarrig drop to last in the rankings after Stratford/Grangecons victory over Baltinglass and it’s Junior A Football for 2023 if this ranking plays out so this should be excellent wall decoration for motivating the 2022 Junior A Champs Barndarrig’s dressing room……

Wicklow JAFC 2022

The Junior A rankings are the most stable of the 3 grades this week as Laragh remain the team the Guru feels will win the Junior A Championship with Ashford moving positively into second after their single point defeat away to Kilmacanogue and Blessington who toppled Ballinacor move up one place past the Cors and another team to drop is Baltinglass after suffering defeat ti neighbours Stratford/Grangecon and at the bottom AGB moved off the foot of the rankings with Knockananna now the team the Guru feels are in real danger of dropping back to Junior B for 2023 so again this should be excellent wall decoration for motivating the 2022 Junior B Champs Knockananna’s dressing room……

We will be back next week to see if the Guru’s opinions have changed but as it stands St Pats, Eire Og and Laragh is the Guru’s big money treble……
