SEAN MCSHANE GOLF CLASSIC

On Sunday 2nd June 2019 we will be hosting the 9th annual Sean McShane Memorial Golf Classic in Druid’s Glen. We are close to capacity so any late entries can be done so through 087-6844188 (John). This year we are raising funds for Pieta House. A worthy charity causing awareness for mental health, suicide and self harm. If you would like to enter a team or sponsor a hole (€100) please do so by contacting the above number 🏌️‍♂️🏌️‍♂️

The Sean McShane Golf Classic is held yearly in Druids Glen, Newtown in Sean’s memory.

As wonderful supporters of Newtown GAA Dominic Leech and Sean ran the golf classic until Sean’s sudden passing and the event has been carried on by Dominic and the McShane family.

The real beneficiaries of these classics are the charities from Thrombosis Ireland to Newtown National School’s Centre for Autism. The Annual event takes place this Sunday and again promises to be a wonderful day’s entertainment. This year Dominic and the McShane family of Anne, Fiona, John and Paul McShane felt that Pieta House would be a worthy and noble cause.

Every community has been hit by suicides and Newtown is no different – a tough time for all affected by such a huge social issue. So this year we are asking for your assistance by sponsoring a tee area for € 100 or subscribing to the GoFundMe page to raise much needed funds for this great charity which was set up in 2016 firstly in Lucan and then grew throughout the country.

PIETA HOUSE

From humble beginnings, Pieta House has grown to almost 270 therapists and administration staff, and the demand for our service hasn’t let up. In 2017 alone, over 7,000 people came through their doors suffering from suicidal ideation and/or engaging in self-harm, or to avail of suicide bereavement counselling. As it has been from day one, everything within Pieta House is free of charge and our staff are totally committed to this cause.

CHARITY GIG

As part of the Golf Classic weekend – this Saturday night, 1st June – after the Champions League Dominic Leech and Roy Buckley (a great balladeer from Cork) will play a gig in Mountkennedy Inn, Newtown with all proceeds going to Pieta House.
