Minor Football Match Abandoned After Sideline Brawl Involving Team Mentors

Sadly another headline we would rather not be posting occurred this evening with the Minor Football clash between An Tochar and Rathnew being abandoned after an ugly off the field incident involving team officials and spectators.

A cracking game of football that was being played by two very talented sides and in a good sporting manner was ruined by what occurred on the sideline and ended up leading to the abandonment of the game. If this is the example we are setting then we might as well tell parents to forget about the GAA as an option if this utter shite is not removed from our games.

Moronic behaviour like this needs to be cut out by both club and county board officials before the SPORT we all love is completely and utterly tarnished beyond repair by incidents like these. What example does it set seeing grown adults rolling around the sidelines and one official lying badly hurt on the ground for a considerable length of time?? When do we learn, when do we actually take serious action and take responsibility for our own behaviour. Where have our games gone when a young child is gone to A&E after an alleged altercation with a grown adult, where is the SPORT in that???

There are serious questions to be answered by all the clubs in the county and by the GAA themselves if our games are going to be a viable option for our kids to play when we can’t even control ourselves as grown men and women. The brushing it under the carpet approach has to stop and an example made and stuck to that there is zero tolerance on this carry on. Are we at the stage where it’s not just the Order of Malta we need to be getting at games, but a police presence too???

WE ARE A JOKE AND WILL ALWAYS BE A JOKE IF THESE INCIDENTS KEEP HAPPENING WITHOUT PROPER DISCIPLINE FROM BOTH CLUBS AND COUNTY.
