Michelle Richardson Previews Blessington v St Nicks In The 2020 Wicklow Minor A Football Championship County Final

Hey Bill

What’s the craic, this is getting to be a regular thing, Blesso in another County Final. It’s definitely what we’re feeding them here in the town.

This week all roads lead to Aughrim for the Minor A local Derby between Blesso and St Nicks.
Championships may be won in Aughrim but the hard work is always done on the pitches at home and by God our Blesso Boys have put in savage work, mornings and evenings have been spent in our beautiful facilities that sit in the foothills of the Glending Forest.

In 1995 our Minors made history and brought home the title after 40 years of a drought. I happen to know a few of the lads well, especially young Mark Ricker who has no less than 3 nephews playing this weekend in the Final. The stamp it leaves on these youngsters is unreal as the majority of the lads still talk about 1995 on an ongoing basis, I for one like a lot of the partners out there only know it too well….. The next generation are looking to break the drought of 13 years, the last time Blesso won the Minor A was in 2007 against Eire Og. 13 may be an unlucky number for some but not for Blesso this weekend as they bring home the cup.
The lads are under no illusions they will be up against it but I firmly believe they have the passion and the ability to go all the way.

Family and friends and the whole community are well geared up and the bunting and flags still remain in place as we all here in Blesso believe in these kids and are well behind them in their quest to be County Champions.

My prediction for the game is Blesso 4-8 St Nicks 3-5

These lads are “Simply the Best”, and as Tina Turner(my idol as you know well Bill) sings about Proud Mary, we will be”Proud Blesso” come Saturday evening and Rolling on the River………

Come on Blesso.
