Congratulations to Kiltegan’s Padraig O Toole who has been bestowed the honour of captaining the Wicklow Senior Footballers by Oisin McConville and his management team for the 2023 campaign. Padraig will be ably assisted by two capable lieutenants in the form of St Patricks Paddy O Keane and Blessington’s Kevin Quinn who will be the teams Vice Captains.

A talented dual star, O’Toole has also featured in Casey O Brien’s Senior Hurling squad in the Kehoe Cup campaign and his prowess with both the big and small ball is unsurprising with his father Christy being a former star for the Wicklow County hurlers for many years. Saturday will see Padraig get his first opportunity to captain his County and he couldn’t have asked for a more competitive encounter as Wicklow face near neighbours Carlow on Saturday night under lights in Netwatch Cullen Park in the Allianz League Division 4 Opener which will be a truly special occasion for a man from a club that sits right next to the county boundary with Carlow.

We wish Padraig and the lads the very best on Saturday and hopefully we can open with a win on the road over the next door neighbours.
