INTERVIEW: Eoin Darcy – Electric Ireland Minor Football Player Of The Week

Congratulations to Tinahely and Wicklow’s Eoin Darcy who has just been voted Electric Ireland Minor Football Player Of The Week. This is a huge credit not just to Eoin, but to the Minor Football Management team, his teammates, his club, his family and friends and possibly the most unsung heroes of Wicklow GAA, The Garden County Academy.

So to mark Eoin’s great achievement we have decided to throw a few questions at the man himself to get a better idea of the young man and have a bit of craic along the way so here is what he had to say:

Ah ye it’s a great feeling and an honour but the win against Westmeath topped it.

Me oul lad, the upside to all his shouting from the side line is he loses the voice for a day or two

Practice with both feet there will come a time when you need your weaker foot to get you out of trouble

13. Can you see some of your teammates go on to emulate your Manager Kevin O Brien’s achievements and maybe add to Wicklow’s All Stars List?

Yes with the players on our team I wouldn’t be surprised

14. The Garden County Academy do immense work at underage level in Wicklow, Would you say the success to date with this minor team is down to their hard work and dedication?

Yes but the Clubs also have a big hand in our development.

Hurling u12 and I went to catch a ball with the sun in my eyes I completely missed it and got it in the childrens allowance

16. Is there anything you’d like to see change in the GAA in County Wicklow to improve the game?

Yes I’d like see more people get behind Wicklow at county level in all ages and a bit of belief instilled😉

Sadly the Gaffer was unavailable for the free kick competition but maybe once he’s finished savouring the victory over Westmeath he might partake in a little shootout😉
