Colm Lyons To Referee 2022 All Ireland Senior Hurling Final

Sources say that Cork’s Colm Lyons will take charge of this years hurling showpiece between Kilkenny and Limerick with Liam Gordon as stand by and Paud Dwyer as linesman.

While we wish Colm Lyons all the best it’s baffling to say the least how Wicklow’s John Keenan has been yet again overlooked despite overseeing the best game of the year and one of the greatest games in the history of hurling as Limerick overcame Clare in a Munster classic at Semple Stadium.

With every pundit, punter, player and priest across the land singing his praises the powers that be have yet again overlooked him and for what reason we can only guess! Many quarters point to being from County Wicklow being a factor that has seen him overlooked despite being consistently on top of his game and ensuring some of the best games are exactly that.

Whatever the reason it’s absolutely gutting for John who has given so much over the years to the game and it would be a huge deal for us all in County Wicklow to have John in the middle for hurlings showpiece but sadly that will not be the case this year and how they can overlook him once again is baffling. The GAA and it’s shot callers are increasingly moving away from the ethos of the peoples game and it was clear not just in Wicklow that the hurling world wanted John in charge but what would the hurling people know eh?!!

Best of luck to Colm on what will be a proud day for him and we wish him all the very best.
