Congratulations to Baltinglass’s Sarah Jane Winders who has been bestowed the honour of captaining the Wicklow Ladies Senior Footballers by Gavin Wynne and his management team for the 2023 campaign. Sarah Jane has been a mainstay of our ladies team for many campaigns and she was the Wicklow lady who made that famous walk up the steps in Croke Park to lift aloft the Cup after claiming the All Ireland title and we dearly hope history repeats itself in 2023 and we can see Sarah Jane giving another amazing victory speech in Croker once again.

A rock at full back for club and county, a dual star with her Camogie club Kiltegan and a fierce competitor who will drive the Garden County cause and Sunday will see plenty of drive required as our ladies make the long journey north to Owenbeg in Derry to take on a Derry side who suffered defeat to a strong Leitrim side in their opening fixture in the Lidl Ladies National Football League Division 4 Group B encounter.

We wish Sarah Jane and the ladies the very best on Sunday and hopefully we can open with a win on the road.
