Back Don, Back Wicklow This Sunday – #DOITFORDON

This Sunday our Wicklow Senior Footballers host Antrim at 2pm in Aughrim in a crunch game that could go a long way in deciding which teams will be in the hunt for Promotion by Round 7 and a League Final spot.

Antrim currently sit in second place in Division 4 and have been in scintillating form taking apart a very good Limerick side in their previous outing. The importance of a huge vocal support on Sunday can not be underestimated as Wicklow are still very much in with a chance of that elusive promotion from Division 4.

Wicklow GAA has long required a catalyst to really bring people out to support our county teams and players and make no mistake, there is very much a support base in this county for Wicklow GAA. That support being extremely evident over the weekend with the unfortunate events in Coolkenno when one of our most loved Wicklow Gaels, Don Jackman collapsed while training with his beloved Coolkenno GAA club. Thanks to the heroic efforts of his club mates and the diligence of Coolkenno GAA club to have a defibrillator in the pitch, Dons life was saved. The outpouring of support to Don across every corner of County Wicklow was remarkable and it most definitely provided Dons family with huge solace as he fought for his life like the Trojan man he is.

Don’s road to recovery will be made all the shorter with all of us alongside him every step of the way and that support can hopefully be shown by us all to Don by turning to Aughrim in huge numbers to show our solidarity with him and his family while also giving our county football team, a team which Don himself lined out for proudly, all the support that they deserve.
Our Wicklow lads will be aiming to put on a huge performance with Don in their minds and hopefully Sunday we can help roar them on to a huge win for Wicklow Football and show Don and his family how highly he is regarded in this County.
