Herbie Hill Cup League Champions: Baltinglass

Promoted: N/A

Relegated: Hollywood & Kiltegan

Dunne Cup Semi Finals:

Baltinglass v Tinahely

Rathnew v St Pats

Baltinglass were emphatic League Winners after just two defeats in their entire league campaign and they were the worthy recipients of the Herbie Hill Cup. Dunne Cup holders St Pats win over AGB in the last league game secured their spot in the semi finals knocking AGB out of the semi finals with Tinahely taking the 4th and Final Spot in the hunt for the Dunne Cup. Both Kiltegan and Hollywood drop back to Division 1A for 2020 after a tough campaign that saw struggles for numbers and other issues which they will look to put behind them. Hollywood will be hoping to go one better than last year’s Championship Semi Final appearance while Kiltegan with players returning will look to advance past the Quarter Final stage they reached last year.

Priest Cup League Champions: Avondale

Promoted: Avondale, Newtown

Relegated: Annacurra & Kilmacanogue

West Wicklow Cup Semi Finals:

Avondale v Dunlavin

Newtown v Eire Og

Avondale were emphatic League Winners after eleven wins and just three defeats in their entire league campaign and they were the worthy recipients of the Priest Cup. Newly promoted Newtown kept their upward momentum well and truly on track by defeating Bray Emmets in the last league game to secure back to back promotions in a brilliant campaign for the Magpies. Eire Og were pipped for the final promotion spot after sitting in 2nd with all their games played only for Newtown to swoop in and snatch 2nd with their last game. Dunlavin will feel they left it behind as a brilliant start to the campaign was undone by a complete meltdown where they lost 5 of their last 6 on the bounce and still only finished a win from being promoted. Avondale will look to double down on their trophy count and a buoyant Newtown will surely look to take a cup to mark their promotion while it will be interesting to see if Eire Og and Dunlavin put value in the semi finals with promotion not in play and focus on their championship aspirations instead or will they see it as good preparation ahead of Championship action. Both Annacurra and Kilmacanogue drop back to Division 2 for 2020 with both being quite competitive despite having players on county duty and were unable to avoid the drop. Both these sides are among the favourites for the Intermediate Football Championship which has been in the last few years won by teams who only dropped down the previous year so that puts Annacurra as the team to watch while Kilmacanogue who were beaten in the semi finals last year by winners Tinahely and have been knocking hard in recent years and are many peoples tip for glory.

Timmons Cup League Champions: Coolkenno

Promoted: Coolkenno, Kilcoole

Relegated: Ballinacor & Rathnew

Liam Cullen Cup Semi Finals:

Coolkenno v Donard/Glen

Kilcoole v Valleymount (Conceded by Valleymount)

Coolkenno were emphatic League Winners after nine wins and just one defeat at the hands of runners up Kilcoole in their entire league campaign and they were the worthy recipients of the Timmons Cup. Newly promoted Kilcoole like Newtown in 1A kept their upward momentum well and truly on track by defeating Laragh in the last league game to secure back to back promotions in a brilliant campaign for the Goosebankers. Valleymount who had a stellar campaign were pipped for the final promotion spot on head to head as they tied with Kilcoole but lost out when the sides met and can be very happy with their efforts despite coming up agonizingly short. Donard/Glen will feel they left it behind them terribly as they had the opportunity to take the final promotion place to a 3 way playoff but they found an in form Barndarrig too big a nut to crack on the road in their final league game. Coolkenno will look to double down on their trophy count and a buoyant Kilcoole will surely look to take a cup to mark their promotion while again it will be interesting to see if Valleymount and Donard/Glen put value in the semi finals with promotion not in play and look to focus on their championship aspirations or will they see it as good preparation ahead of Championship action. Both Ballinacor and Rathnew drop back to Division 3 for 2020 with Ballinacors relatively bright start fading badly as the league progressed with a walkover against Coolkenno closing out their campaign and they will look to bounce back in the championship while Rathnew’s struggles to field a team on two occasions was what inevitably cost them despite being quite competitive and no doubt they will be primed for championship with a full compliment of players. Both these sides are never far from the business end of the the Intermediate Football Championship when on song and write either off at your peril.
