We are privileged in Wicklow to be able to call Wicklow Ladies Footballer Jackie Kinch one of our own. A tremendously talented player, an even more tremendous personality and someone who carries the respect of so many people up and down the country who have crossed paths with her in all walks of life. Jackie has been a great servant to this county and on Sunday we hope you might be able to give back a little to this wonderful lady as she hosts a wonderful charity event that honours the memory of her beloved sister Ellen and raises much needed funds for the Barretstown Charity.
Here Jackie explains all about the event:
The Ellen Kinch Memorial Cup
The Ellen Kinch Memorial cup is a 7 a-side adult ladies football blitz held in Tinahely GAA club. It all starts this Sunday the 9th of June in Tinahely GAA Club and the action starts at 12 noon and finishes around 4/5ish! A day of great fun and smiles all around in aid of a great cause Barretstown, and keeping my sister’s name alive who passed away from battling cancer at the age of 16. Ellen attended Barretstown and we all went as a family and it was one of the greatest experiences ever. I’m inspired by the work of Barretstown and how they help terminally ill patients and put smiles back on their faces.
We have 16 teams attending which is the most we’ve ever had!!
St Nicholas – Bray Emmets – Kilbride/Lacken – Tinahely 1 – Tinahely 2 – Carnew Emmets – Baltinglass – Rathnew – Blessington – St Pats 1 – St Pats 2 – Arklow – Clara – Ballon (Carlow) – Kilanerin (Wexford) – Tyrellspass (Westmeath)
We raised €2,485 last year and hope to exceed it this year with everyones help.
