Robert McHugh Previews The Clash Of Baltinglass & AGB In This Weekends Wicklow Senior Football Championship Semi Final

Baltinglass V AGB

This will be an intriguing game between a baltinglass team that has come through largely untested and an up and coming AGB side, who have serious ambitions to go all way, after their 1 point defeat in the final last year.
Both teams are well coached, organised and ambitious to go all the way this year.

AGB
AGB have not to wracked up any big scores but they have managed their games really well and have great pace and legs in the team. Their defence is resolute and Jack Hamilton and Ciaran Hyland provide great power and cover there. Andy Maher, their free running midfielder will take marking as will Darragh Fitzgerald who has a massive engine and work ethic. Chris O Brien will provide the main threat but they have very capable forwards in all positions.

BALTINGLASS
Baltinglass on the other hand have great tradition and will be disappointed with their showing over the last few years. They have managed their early games well with out being spectacular and ran up a fine score of 3-12 against neighbours Kiltegan in the quarter final.

KEY BATTLES
Key Battles may be Ciaran Hyland and John McGrath. He has played superbly in the championship and will take a lot of stopping, especially if Balto win a lot of primary kick outs, which they have done through the dominance of Mikey English in the middle of the field.
Both teams have a lot of young and talented players on display. AGB have serious legs around the pitch but Balto have experience, strong defenders and talented forwards, who on their day, given the right supply, are very dangerous.

PREDICTION
It will be a really good contest between two well drilled and organised teams. I feel that Balto have a nice blend of power experience and young talent in the team to take them through to their first final since 2016 but it will be extremely tight affair.
Score taking and decision making in this contest will play a big role in the final outcome.
Baltinglass to prevail.
