The Bens managed to overcome an early Marc Lennon goal to lead at the 1-05 to 1-04 at the break thanks to a goal of their own from Mark Fitzsimons and Ross Davis chipping in with 3 points and Cathal McNicholas and Neilly Martin the 1-04 scoring machine against Kilmac also popping up with a point each. Bray Emmets Ben Kearney and Newtown and Wicklow Star Shane Mooney were both two of the big performers in the first half for their sides.

Bray Emmets to their credit gave it their all despite missing a few regulars through various reasons but they made Newtown work for it by registering the first two scores of the second half to take the lead and make already sweaty Newtown undies even sweatier but Newtown then called on all their experience and it was one of their all time greats Dean Odlum who fired over the equalizing score and this inspired Conor Odlum who found the Bray Emmets net to really put the dream back on track and it was a lead Newtown would not relinquish as Ross Davis scores two second half points to put his tally to 5 and further points from Neilly Martin, Karl Carthy and Mark Fitzsimons saw the Bens safely to a 2-11 to 1-08 victory.

The BEN-GABUS will be in Newtown shortly and we have been promised a lively rendition from the lads and all the Bens💪🖤⚪️ Well done Newtown👌
