Laragh were pushed to the very pin of their collar by a resurgent Stratford/Grangecon side who looked a winning docket late on as they mounted a monumental comeback to edge in front of a Laragh side who had held a substantial lead at 1-9 to 0-03 in the first half which in hindsight will give Decky Byrne a few things to focus on before the next outing for the Laragh men. The Slaneysiders deserve massive credit for the way in which they never threw in the towel and the limited Stratford crowd were going nuts for their M&M’s as Michael Mangan and Michael Murphy were pivotal in hauling their side back into the game and Colin Byrne looked to have delivered a devastating haymaker to the Laragh men late on when he edged his side in front but the men from Glendalough are not easily flustered and Mark Cullen fired over three on the trot followed by another white flag raiser from Eric Olahan and the Laragh men took a crucial opening win.
Mark Cullen and Mark Miley were instrumental in their sides victory but Mark Murphy played a captains part landing eight points and was a deserving man of the match despite his side leaving Aughrim without the win.
