Ballymanus, the little club who nearly could have went with the youthful approach to lead them to an elusive Intermediate title for 2019.
A club that has managed to consistently punch way above their weight in terms of club size and player resources has been consistently at the business end of the Intermediate Football Championship, but they have also been consistently the nearly men of Wicklow Football as they have not managed to reach the promised land of Senior football in many many years despite being never far way from a final.
To correct that trend the Billies have turned to Ciaran Walshe; the fantastic ex Baltinglass and Wicklow footballer who had his promising career cut short far too early through injury. Despite his young age he is no stranger to the cut and thrust of football management as he took the reigns at his own club Baltinglass last year and guided them through to the Quarter Final of the Senior Football Championship last year at the expense of Blessington while also taking the Baltinglass ladies to glory in the past, he will now be looking to lead a different set of Green & Whites to glory in 2019.
Assembled around him are two Ballymanus legends, Manager Billy Byrne and selector Micheal Stapleton who make up a very strong management team and we wish Ciaran and the team all the best in 2019 as they seek the elusive title.
