In what will forever go down in the history books as one of the most remarkable club teams to ever come out of County Wicklow, this phenomenal Knockananna squad managed by legendary Wicklow hurler Tom Byrne, will look to achieve a remarkable second All Ireland Club Title and their 3rd appearance in 3 consecutive seasons in an All Ireland Final.
After capturing Wicklow and Leinster this Knockananna squad were heartbreakingly pipped by Tyrone and Ulster Champions Naomh Treasa in the 2020 Junior B All Ireland Final but in a remarkable feat they dusted themselves off and recaptured the Leinster Title for the 2021 Season and made no mistake the second time around as they captured the All Ireland Title by overcoming Tyrone & Ulster Champions Derrylaughan.
The fairytale was far from over however as in 2022 they once again captured the Wicklow Senior title by overcoming their long standing rivals Donard/Glen and after their All Ireland Title they would now embark on the Leinster trail in the Junior A grade where they proceeded in some style to the Leinster Final where they overcame Kildare Champions Maynooth to capture the Leinster crown. Next up was the challenge of Roscommon and Connacht Champions St Dominic’s which was impressively overcome which set up tomorrows showdown with Antrim and Ulster Champions Bridini Oga who overcame a much fancied Adare side which featured an All Star nominee along with many Limerick Senior Inter County Camogie stars so the quality of the opposition to be faced tomorrow more than speaks for itself but we in Wicklow are all fully aware of what stuff this phenomenal squad are made from and with a bit of luck another magical chapter in this Knockananna teams story will be written.
The teams manager Tom Byrne was named in the Wicklow Hurling 15 of the last millennium and if they ever do a Camogie equivalent in the next thousand years it will take some serious heroics to dislodge 15 Knockananna Camogie players from that lineup!
Their team ethic and hard work is epitomised in the All Ireland Junior B Camogie Championship  Top Scorers Table with a host of Knockananna’s stars contributing scores along the way to tomorrow’s final and three of the Knockananna squad feature in the Top 10 ahead of tomorrows game with Bridini Oga sharpshooter Eimhear McAleenan also in the Top 5.
Tommorow is as big as it gets and we wish our Champs all the very very best.
