Enniskerry Boxers Crowned Leinster Champs
Enniskerry Boxing Club members Cole Byrne and Johnny Lynch were yesterday both crowned Leinster Boxing champions as they both secured gold in their respective weight categories and it is a massive achievement for these two young men and their club Enniskerry.
Cole Byrne 54kg Leinster Champion
Cole won all three rounds of his semi final against a boxer from Kilcullen Boxing Club. Cole then fought his final against a Boxer from Ollard Boxing Club and stopped his opponent to be crowned 3 time Leinster Champion and will now progress to the All Ireland.
Johnny Lynch 40kg Leinster Champion
Johnny boxed superbly in both his quarter final and semi final and defeated a Boxer from Kilcullen Boxing Club in the Final. Johnny and Cole now head to the All Irelands Weigh-In on Thursday morning.
Training & The Future
Cole gave us an insight into the effort required to be a champion and his hopes for the future.
“Making weight is very hard if you don’t know how to control your food, eating healthy things is extremely important. We train 5 to 6 days a week. I want to win my cadets this year and my dream is to win a European medal but it would be a great achievement even to get there”
The two lads weigh in Thursday for the All Ireland’s and we wish them all the best.
